The rules have changed in the past several years regarding what fans do for their teams. “Crazy” doesn’t even start to describe what some folks think they are entitled to do in the name of their favorite sports organizations. But this?
Bernie Fine accuser Zach Tomaselli, who is about to start time in prison for sexually abusing a teenager at a summer camp, says he made the whole thing up — ”motivated by a deep dislike for the Syracuse Orange because they beat his favorite Kansas Jayhawks in the 2003 championship game.”
All I can say to this piece, to Tomaselli’s involvement, is … my god.
This is way above specific teams and all that normal trash-talking stuff. This human horror story was motivated to ruin multiple peoples’ lives because of a game that he didn’t even take part in. And, he doesn’t care.
UPDATE: And there’s more… had this forwarded to me as well, which I think highlights just how unreal this sociopath is: At one point, Tomaselli also professed his love for Kansas State and Kansas City football. According to the report, he was set to attend K-State this fall.
How does that highlight it more? That’s some quick-setting hatred as a KU fan if you grew up a fan of your team’s in-state rival. So, even as Tomaselli says he did this for KU, can you believe all or any of it? If he’s so flippant about destroying lives, and obviously lying in order to do so, what part of this story can you really believe?
It is equally fascinating and horrifying.
