I had the chance Wednesday night to catch up with a couple of former collegiate football player friends of mine, one of whom pays extreme attention to the Kansas City Chiefs. I value their high-level schematic approach and evaluation to the game, so it was noticeable when one name went unmentioned until the end of the conversation.
- “I haven’t even thought about Dwayne Bowe all camp.”
- Of all his reportedly impressive feats this camp, making my attentive friend forget the incumbent No. 1 receiver’s training camp absence might top Jon Baldwin’s list.
- At this point, Baldwin has to produce in the regular season, doesn’t he?
- Of course not.
- But, let’s not dwell on a negative that might not even happen.
- Instead, let’s focus on that U.S. Open Cup championship won by Sporting Kansas City.
- Holy cow, what a finish!
- Did any potential U.S. soccer enthusiasts casual fans see it in their homes?
- What a typical mid-1990s blunder by United States soccer authorities to not have that game on anything better than something called GolTV. Somebody should get a red card for that.
- Kudos to the “Oklahoma City Sounders” sign maker spotted in the LIVESTRONG Sporting Park crowd. That’s excellent work.
- Now, Sporting KC, finish off this momentum-building year with an MLS Cup.
- The Kansas City Royals finished off a winning series in Chicago last night.
- Two solo home runs and tremendous starting pitching sealed the deal.
- In other words, a typical Royals night, right?
- That one start alone made Jeremy Guthrie worth trading Jonathan Sanchez, even if he stinks the rest of the year.
- Crap. Now, I’m back to thinking that even Sanchez was tradeable, which bewilders me all over again that Dayton Moore flat cut loose Jose Mijares’ higher value just because the team didn’t like his attitude.
- Bwahahahaha.
- If I told you the Royals have 52 games left to this season, what’s that do for you?
- If the Royals didn’t play the final 52 games, would it go unnoticed?
- What I noticed most about Kansas State media day last Friday? Normally pretty serious Arthur Brown’s wide smile when talking about the team’s attitude.
- He likes this team.
- A smiling Arthur Brown… what’s that worth, ya think?
The Yardies would like to thank you for your nod to our OKC Sounders sign.
But today, GO CHIEFS!
