The Kansas City Royals scored one run against the Seattle Mariners on Thursday night in a game I’m pretty sure nobody saw.
- If you didn’t watch, you missed one run…on two hits…both of those courtesy of Billy Butler.
- Yes, Harry Doyle, that’s all they got, one run on two gosh darn hits.
- ”It’s going to be a long year if we’re going to keep playing like this. We need to pick it up,” Alex Gordon said.
- Oh, Alex. 6-18 in your last 24? It already is a long year, sir.
- I’m not sure how you actually teach urgency to a team that doesn’t come by it naturally, but that quote seems to indicate that Ned Yost’s attempts at it haven’t worked.
- You could have a team of all-stars, but with no urgency you have the 2011 Boston Red Sox.
- Dontari Poe is signed, sealed and delivered – ready for the first full day of Kansas City Chiefs training camp in St. Joseph.
- Dwayne Bowe, on the other hand, is apparently going to be a no-show.
- Which happens first: The next summer day with a high temperature in the 80s, or agent Todd France giving Bowe good advice?
- It’s not supposed to be anywhere close to the 80s for at least 10 days.
- The news came out yesterday, but did you see UMKC’s basketball schedule for this upcoming year?
- A+ for flashy names, Tim Hall. You did exactly what you promised in upgrading the slate.
- With Kansas State, Louisville, Ohio State and Iowa State among seven NCAA Tourney teams facing the ‘Roos, F- for filling up with games that have Matt Brown destined to have perhaps his worst season since going 9-21 his first year.
- Or, is that what the end game is here?
- The end game for junior college transfer Marquez Clark’s K-State career has already played.
- The top-rated recruit in Bill Snyder’s most recent class, Clark will take his wide receiver abilities to the University of Central Oklahoma after not finishing a summer online English class.
- Then again, finishing may not be the right term after Clark told GoPowercat.com that his professor informed him that he hadn’t heard from the student since April 30.
- You have a major Division I scholarship, and your football future, literally one junior college class away, and you can’t make it past April 30?
- I’ll likely never meet the kid, and it’s not as if any of his decisions will ever affect my life, but I’m disappointed for him.
- With that kind of urgency, maybe Clark should contact the Royals.

Bonus thought: A very big thank you to all who came out to Culver’s on Tuesday night to support K-State fan David Panjada’s efforts to raise money for cancer research. Eating a butter burger in support of fighting cancer is something I think we can always do.
