Still nearly two weeks away from the latest football installment of the Sunflower Showdown, trash-talking between the teams has already started. The first shot (and likely only, now) fired earlier on Tuesday? From Kansas Jayhawks defensive end Keba Agostinho.
In a series of tweets that began a few hours ago, Agostinho first pointed out the rivalry’s record:
The KSU and KU media guides both list the series at 65-39-5.
Then, Agostino, whose Twitter account is 9@OptimusPrime6 as you can see, took offense to Kansas State quarterback Collin Klein’s nickname.
And finally, at least before a teammate or KU football staffer shuts him down, Agostinho throws in one more, saying his tweet was being twisted.
Not that Bill Snyder would ever allow for it against the in-state rival, but if there was any even small concern that Kansas State would lack for motivation after coming off a bye week, it is something like this that eliminates it.
