Some particularly snarky thoughts in this grab-bag collection…but that happens when you’re in the middle of a stretch that includes incessantly chasing baseless Frank Martin rumors, dampened Royals spirits due to injury and pondering 26 points in an NCAA Tournament game.
- Pretty hard not to notice the change in Kansas City sports media…thinking about a week ago that Peyton Manning was the only thing separating any AFC West team from sacking the division and making a run to an AFC Championship to…
- just the guy who replaced Tim Tebow.
- Speaking of changes, in with warm weather, plants blooming, and all that…
- I didn’t need a calendar to tell me Tuesday was spring. Anymore, I have the annual Frank Martin job watch.
- Crazy part about that? If people keep speculating annually, they’re bound to be right sometime about the Kansas State coach.
- Then, eventually, we settle into the unbearable doldrums of “I knew he didn’t want to be here!” and “I told you Kansas State couldn’t have nice things.”
- Guess you’d just have to blame it on the unusual El Niño patterns of an athletic director that turns sizable department profits and runs a proactive, tighter-than-normal-ship.
- Given those facts (even if the motivation is resume building), that John Currie has proven he knows what he’s doing virtually every other step of the way but still is deemed so incompetent by some K-State fans…please explain?
- The coaching move hasn’t happened, and IF it did, it would be based mostly on a personality conflict. Those happen – especially with a personality like Frank Martin, who, and think about this, would have willingly and unabashedly played a guy who, by the rules in place, likely would have wound up ineligible.
- Say Jamar Samuels plays, K-State still loses to Syracuse and the NCAA is currently considering a punishment for K-State because of its foolish bravado. How would you be feeling about K-State basketball at this moment?
- Yep, Currie is certainly an unnatural disaster in collegiate athletics.
- #smh
- Still feels unnatural…what happened to Missouri (and Duke).
- For the first time, I think I felt the K-State and Missouri “can’t have nice things” stars align.
- The guys over at Bring on the Cats and Rock M Nation like to refer to the KSU/MU relationship as the unholy alliance (based on a shared feeling for KU).
- I wonder if it’s not more because both programs seem to have a shared knack for finding new ways to carve out their fans’ hearts with sporks.
- Or, maybe their eyes at having to watch Lew Perkins’ greatest hire make the Sweet 16.
- That’s right…Bonnie Henrickson.
- Much was made about her salary in the past, but it only got me to thinking what K-State’s Deb Patterson’s total check this year was worth per point the other night in her team’s shameful 72-26 loss, in an NCAA Tournament game, to Geno Auriemma’s Connecticut Huskies.
- At a base salary this season of $550,000, math says… $21,153.85 … per point.
- Erm… bwahahahaha.
- Then again, I shouldn’t laugh. That’s potentially a way better return than what the Kansas City Royals will get out of Joakim Soria’s contract this year.
- Ah well, regardless, if you’ve listened to any of the exhibition games or looked up spring training stats, we’ll spend most of the summer talking offense anyways.
- And, maybe, the emergence of someone out of the Aaron Crow, Greg Holland, Jonathan Broxton combination will mitigate the Soria effect anyways.
- Hey, spring just started. We’re still allowed to hope.
